Flying a Kite

Thursday, June 19, 2014

After the Goodwin’s left, Stockton was out on the flat in front of our house flying a kite that Mambo had gotten him. The other boys were working on something near the pens. The sky was so pretty, too, that I just took pictures of everything and everybody.

Can you spot the kite?

The boys are still in their grungy work clothes, although I think Laredo must have changed his shirt. It looks way too clean.

I asked them to pose for me, which they weren’t too excited about.

I think I might have even said I wouldn’t post this picture….but he’s so cute….don’t tell him it’s here…shhh

One-Shot Stockton

Sunday, June 1, 2014

Aspen screamed when she saw a rattlesnake sleeping on the back porch. Nathan, Cim and Laredo were all away from the house doing something with the tractor and planting hay grazer. So, Stockton got his trusty .22 and killed it with his first shot. Right in the head. Way to go, Stockton!

Stockton’s Battle

On the school room table, Stockton had this nice display set up. I just couldn’t resist posting a few pictures of it since he obviously spent some time setting this up.

Goodies from Germany

Wednesday, April 9

We got a package today from my niece, Audrey Hyland and her family who are stationed in Germany. It was full of German food items. Chocolates, cookies, fruit bars and even frankfurters in a jar! The kids had such fun trying everything. What a great gift!

Another little bird hit the window and got stunned for a few minutes. We always take the opportunity to get a rare close up view before releasing them again. This is one of the gold finch that we have here in the winter.
