Monday, November 17 –

Nathan and Stockton went hunting together tonight. Stockton shot this nice 8-point buck.

New Horses **Video Added!**

Friday, October 17 –

We thought we would be able to build up our two older horses, Moxley and Radar and let Carolina and Stockton ride them until some of the younger ones were steady enough for young riders. However, they’re just not in good enough shape to be ridden very often. We’ve turned them out on wheat for a while. Meanwhile, the kids needed good broke horses to ride. So, we went to see Bill Tinney.

We’ve purchased lots of horses from Bill and his brother Tommy over the years, both breeders of Galiceno horses.

Saturday Afternoon Ride

Saturday, October 11 –

Nathan, Stockton and Carolina had fun this afternoon riding some of the horses. It was a pretty day for it.

I guess Aspen rode, too. There she is in the lead.

I can’t decide which is more comical – the bear-faced hat or the knees sticking out of the pants…

Stockton’s Fantasy Fire Photo

Thursday, September 11 –

Periodically, we burn our boxes in a small depression out on the flat in front of the house. Stockton used the occasion to stage a pretty awesome photo shoot with one of his air soft guns. I’m not sure what the meaning of the photograph is, but I think it has something to do with the fact that real men don’t look at explosions…

Another One Bites the Dust

Sunday, September 7, 2014 –

This evening was another beautiful early fall evening. It had all the elements that are needed for a guaranteed ShannonRanch blog post; gorgeous skies, kids playing, rattlesnakes…etc.

Bitty Boomer

Saturday, September 6 –

Laredo and Cim brought Stockton another Mountain Boomer. This one is very young and small but seems to be naturally unafraid of Stockton.

SPLASH!

Friday, August 8, 2014 –

Carolina and Stockton were having such a good time in the pool, I just had to grab my camera. The approaching storm gives a dramatic background to these brightly colored photos.

Friends for Supper – Birthday party #3

Sunday, July 13, 2014 –

This afternoon we invited the Phipps family out for supper. Stockton and Carolina had been wanting to see Elaine and Josiah especially since they just had birthdays. I fixed Stockton’s favorite cake, German chocolate with pecan/coconut frosting. Aspen also made a form of red velvet cake colored with beet puree. The color was nice, but we decided it needed more cocoa and sweetening.

Stockton Turns 13

Saturday, July 5, 2014-

It’s hard to believe that Stockton is really a teenager now. It seems like he should still be running around about knee level getting into all sorts of fun. But he is a lot more help to us now than he was then, although he’s always been a worker. Happy birthday to a fine young man. We love you!

Carolina and Stockton Birthday – Party No. 2

Friday, July 4, 2014-

We thought we were going to have overnight guests last night and maybe even tonight, and Nathan had planned to work cattle today until it rained yesterday, so we hadn’t planned anything for the 4th. Since we ended up with the day free, Georgia came out and we grilled hamburgers. She wanted to give Stockton his gift of money because she knew we had a surprise planned for him on Saturday and she thought he might want the money to spend. So we decided to give them all their gifts, even though they weren’t wrapped yet.

The Bullfrog

Thursday, July 3, 2014-

Stockton has been keeping and feeding this female frog that he caught down at the river about a month ago. With this morning’s nice rain (1.5 inches), he agreed to let her go. He wasn’t real happy about it. Doesn’t she have an interesting pattern? He got on the internet and studied up on how to tell the sexes apart. The male has yellow on his throat and ear holes larger than his eyes.

Here’s how she looked the day he caught her. I guess they change their camo color depending on their surroundings.
