A cow we had up in the lots calved out today. They’re so silky and cute when first born.
Carolina and one of our milk cow “babies” share a kiss.
The video shows the calf jumping around. Rusty was keeping a close eye on him. He thinks he is in charge of all babies around the ranch.

We’re so excited that Atlanta, Jordan and baby Marian are coming to Texas! So many people would like to say hi and see the Goodwin’s new little addition to the world, so we decided to have a homecoming dance on Saturday, June 14. It will be held in Turkey, Texas at the old gym. It will start at 6 pm. Bring finger foods to share and bottled water for your family. Even if you can only swing by and see the Tennesseans, you’d be welcome.
If you need a place to stay, call 806-423-1414 ( Old Lumberyard Lodge)

In an attempt to find a way to cool off in the extreme heat we’ve been having, Stockton dug this makeshift pool and lined it with a tarp. Believe it or not it does help to even just get your feet cooled off a little bit. You’ll notice in the background that we do have an above ground pool, but haven’t gotten the salt and other supplies yet to get it put up for the season.

Aspen screamed when she saw a rattlesnake sleeping on the back porch. Nathan, Cim and Laredo were all away from the house doing something with the tractor and planting hay grazer. So, Stockton got his trusty .22 and killed it with his first shot. Right in the head. Way to go, Stockton!

The two younger kids and I were invited to accompany Nathan and Chance on one of their jobs. Nathan knows how I like to take pictures of beautiful scenery and thought I would enjoy seeing the dinner creek area north of Silverton. The views were very dramatic and we had a good time exploring the area while he and chance worked on a couple of windmills. The kids picked up a lot of rocks and drank a lot of water. We also had some air conditioner time in the well truck which we used to make a few sketches.
Here’s some of our sketches.
