November Snow

Sunday, November 16 –

A cold snap brought some pretty snow cover that lasted a day or two. The kids enjoyed bringing out the hot chocolate and warm blankets. It certainly got everyone in a holiday mood.

New Horses **Video Added!**

Friday, October 17 –

We thought we would be able to build up our two older horses, Moxley and Radar and let Carolina and Stockton ride them until some of the younger ones were steady enough for young riders. However, they’re just not in good enough shape to be ridden very often. We’ve turned them out on wheat for a while. Meanwhile, the kids needed good broke horses to ride. So, we went to see Bill Tinney.

We’ve purchased lots of horses from Bill and his brother Tommy over the years, both breeders of Galiceno horses.

Lazy Morning

Monday, October 13 –

This morning, the animals were kind of slow to get moving. Mondays are kind of like that for me, too.

TCHAP Get-Together

Saturday, September 13 –

A nice group gathered for food, fellowship, information and dancing. We enjoyed speakers discussing gardening, solar oven cooking and nutrient-dense foods. Nathan joined Robert Payne for a discussion of water and electrical solutions in an emergency situation. There was a very exuberant dance afterwards.

Another One Bites the Dust

Sunday, September 7, 2014 –

This evening was another beautiful early fall evening. It had all the elements that are needed for a guaranteed ShannonRanch blog post; gorgeous skies, kids playing, rattlesnakes…etc.

Rattlesnake at Sunset

Monday, September 1, 2014 –

I headed outside to take some pictures of the sky. I was wearing my flip-flops and looking up, and noticed something a couple of feet from my foot out of the corner of my eye as I walked along. A rattlesnake was stretched out, totally oblivious of my presence. Maybe he was enjoying the evening, too. Unfortunately for him, I hollered for someone to bring a gun. Cim responded first, but then let Laredo do the honors because he had a better gun for the job. Needless to say, the snake’s evening ended on a bad note. But, I did get some great pictures of the clouds and sunset in the end.
