Goodbye Uncle Charlie

Wednesday, June 25, 2014-

My mom’s sister, Edie, married Charlie almost 67 years ago. Their anniversary is July 3, 1947. He had a great sense of humor and was a talented educator in a variety of settings, from elementary school to university. He’ll be missed by all his family. We traveled to Sherman today to attend his funeral service. It was nice to see some relatives and friends that we hadn’t seen in a while, too.

Of course, you know me, I had to snap a few sky shots during the trip. This was a strange cloud we saw on the journey to Sherman.

On the way home, we followed a gorgeous sunset.

Ominous Storm Clouds

This afternoon, some dark clouds rolled in. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any rain out of them here on the ranch. But, we did end up with some great shots.

Cimarron shared these pictures with me. He took them on his phone while at work.

The setting sun brought more amazing cloud shots.

Cousin Visit

Every year, my cousin’s daughter, Samantha, comes to spend time with Aspen. It’s unclear to me why she keeps coming back since Aspen works her like a dog. She helps with the feeding, milking, building of pens and housework, too. I guess she’s a glutton for punishment!

Tonight, approaching showers brought thunderclouds low to the ground. The setting sun then combined with the blue and purple clouds and added some orange and pink. The result was nothing less than spectacular.

This phone shot was taken by Robin Boedeker from her house west of Quitaque. She knew I would love it and sent it to me. She was right. Thanks, Robin!

After the Goodwin’s left, Stockton was out on the flat in front of our house flying a kite that Mambo had gotten him. The other boys were working on something near the pens. The sky was so pretty, too, that I just took pictures of everything and everybody.
