At the Creek with Marian

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

The day after they arrived, Atlanta, Jordan and Marian went down to the creek with us to help watergap. (This is what you call checking the fences that cross the creeks and rivers. Very often after a rain, the fences wash out and have to be put back up so cattle won’t get onto someone else’s ranch.) When we go watergapping, the guys have to work, but we get to play! The creek is the perfect place for kids. Water, sand, fish, critters, rocks, shells, etc. Here’s a little video of Marian having a great time in the water.

80th Birthday Party

Friday, June 13, 2014

We had a surprise birthday party for mom (Granny, as we all call her) on Friday night. She thought it was just a get together for Atlanta and Jordan, and was surprised to find out everyone had actually gathered in her honor. Her actual birthday is Monday the 16th. She shares her birthday with Laredo who will be 20. She turned 60 the day he was born.

Wonder Baby

Carolina made this poster for Atlanta and Jordan and taped it on the wall. Isn’t it hilarious?

Front Yard Decorations

Monday, June 9, 2014

We’ve been doing a little cleaning outside getting ready for Atlanta and Jordan’s upcoming visit.

Stockton and Carolina have welcome signs out front. They plan on jumping out from under the blue tubs when the Goodwins arrive.

The other pictures are from various plantings in the front yard and side garden.

New Calf

Saturday, June 8, 2014

A cow we had up in the lots calved out today. They’re so silky and cute when first born.

The video shows the calf jumping around. Rusty was keeping a close eye on him. He thinks he is in charge of all babies around the ranch.

You’re Invited! Homecoming Dance

We’re so excited that Atlanta, Jordan and baby Marian are coming to Texas! So many people would like to say hi and see the Goodwin’s new little addition to the world, so we decided to have a homecoming dance on Saturday, June 14. It will be held in Turkey, Texas at the old gym. It will start at 6 pm. Bring finger foods to share and bottled water for your family. Even if you can only swing by and see the Tennesseans, you’d be welcome.

Desperate to Cool Off

Friday, June 6, 2014

In an attempt to find a way to cool off in the extreme heat we’ve been having, Stockton dug this makeshift pool and lined it with a tarp. Believe it or not it does help to even just get your feet cooled off a little bit. You’ll notice in the background that we do have an above ground pool, but haven’t gotten the salt and other supplies yet to get it put up for the season.
